Help the Friends Support the YV Library! 

We need volunteers to help us serve the YV Library community. Just a couple of hours every month or so is a tremendous help.
This is your chance to be active, involved, and to do good!

How would you like to volunteer? Each opportunity takes just a couple of hours and we have options for all ages and abilities. Bring a friend and volunteer together.

✰ Weekly or Monthly – Spend a couple of hours Book Sorting at the Library
✰ Quarterly – Book Sale Setup, Sale Day, or Pack up – Use one or all of your puzzle
solving, personality, and sorting and packing skills!
✰ Annually – Special Events (e.g. Trim-a-Tree, Community Service Day)

We also invite Friends with more time to give to consider participating in Friends group management, such as internet site maintenance, attending monthly board meetings, or joining the board of the Friends of the Ygnacio Valley Library.

What Volunteers Do

Book Sorting: Volunteers sort donated books and stock lobby shelves for our lobby book sales, typically working two or so hours one day per month.  Partner with a friend!

Quarterly book sales: Friends set up the Meeting Room for the book sale, then shelve books by genre, assist with sales, and box up remaining books once the sale is done. 

Website: Friends (with minimal website skills or experience) draft, update and maintain the Friends website.

One-Day Projects: Volunteers help at library events such as holiday trim-a tree crafts, book cleaning or gardening on Community Service Day.

We offer opportunities for kids to get community service hours.

Friends Monthly Meetings

Come to a monthly board meeting, typically held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month (except July & August), in the YV Library Meeting Room.  An annual member’s meeting is held in May, just prior to the regular board meeting.  Learn about the activities the Friends sponsor and do to improve our library and our local community.
